New Delhi, December 7
Asserting that the people had supported demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said his government had brought ‘janshakti’ (people’s power) into prominence. He flayed the Opposition, saying it had been “exposed” in the Rajya Sabha by its refusal to hold a debate on the issue, despite his presence in the House twice.
Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said Modi asked the MPs to spread awareness about “less-cash” and digital economy in the same way they enrolled voters during elections.

“In a democracy, ‘janshakti’should be above ‘rajya shakti’. My government has brought this into prominence,” the Prime Minister claimed, referring to the people’s “support” to demonetisation, despite the hardships they faced.
To buttress his point, he recalled how a large number of people had given up their LPG subsidy. — PTI
