Capital punishment for 5 Maoists for killing 2 CRPF jawans in Bihar

PATNA: A local court in Bihar on Thursday awarded capital punishment to five Maoists in connection with an attack that killed two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 2014 in Gangta in Munger district of the state.

A local court in Bihar on Thursday awarded capital punishment to five Maoists in connection with an attack that killed two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 2014 in Gangta in Munger district of the state.

Amid tight security on the court premises, Additional District Judge (first) Jyoti Swaroop Shrivastava pronounced the quantum of punishment and awarded capital punishment to the five Naxals.

 The convicts are Bipin Mandal, Adhiklal Pandit, Ratu Koda, Banu Koda and Manu Koda.

They had killed two CRPF jawans, Sone Gauda and Rabindra Rai, during the Lok Sabha election in 2014.

All these convicts are lodged in Munger jail.

On April 10, 2014, Maoists had gunned down the two CRPF jawans.

The Munger court has for the first time pronounced a judgment in connection with a Naxal case of the district.
