Bihar edu officer shot

A trainee district education officer was gunned down by two unidentified bike-borne assailants when he was on his way home at Baburahni village from his in-laws’ home at Datiao village in Kaimur district.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, 32, a resident of Baburahni village, was recently recruited by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The assailants shot him near Hazra culvert ridge when he was on his way home with his brother Harendra Kumar Singh on a bike. He was rushed to Bhabhua Sadar Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“My brother Sanjay told me that one Gaurav from Datiao shot three bullets at him. Soon some locals came and took him to the hospital where he was declared dead,” Harendra said. “A case of murder was registered against one Gaurav and the other person. The probe is on to ascertain the exact reason behind his murder. The body was sent for the postmortem,” said Bhabhua sub-divisional police officer Ajay Kumar.

Soon after the incident, locals blocked the Chainpur-Bhabhua road, demanding the arrest of the culprits and compensation for the aggrieved family. The blockade was lifted after assurance from officials.
