Petitions seeking an independent probe into the mysterious death of Judge BH Loya—who was presiding over Shohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case—will now be heard by a three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on Monday.

Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud will be the other two judges on the Bench to hear the controversial matter that was cited by four senior-most judges of the Supreme Court as one of the reasons for  going public against the CJI on January 12.

The case was earlier being heard by a Bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra which had on January 16 directed the Maharashtra Government to share within a week all documents relating to the death of CBI Special Judge Loya with the two petitioners.

Loya was handling the sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which various police officers and BJP president Amit Shah were named. Shah was later exonerated in the case.
