Giving a call to all the countries in the world to take economic measures to achieve the goal of "total elimination of poverty through sustainable development for all" by 2030, United Nations secretary general Ban ki-Moon expressed the hope that the world would be inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's "vision and teachings" which find its relevance even in the modern world.
Speaking at the "Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit" here today, Ban-Ki-Moon reminded the people about Gandhij's caution against "unrestricted industrialisation," and said in the rush for development, India and no other country should damage the social fabric. He, however, was confident that India would play significant role and make meaningful contributions in achieving the UN goal of total elimination of poverty in the world.
