Avalanche: Jawan’s body to arrive today

Kolkata: The body of Lance Naik Marigendra Nath Pramanik is expected to reach his village Kumarchak in Purba Medinipur district, Bengal, on Thursday. He died in an avalanche at Gurez sector in Bandipora district of Kashmir. He was part of a group which got swept away during a snow slide on December 11. Rescue teams recovered his mortal remains on December 18. Pramanik (32), who belonged to the 36 Rastriya Rifles, has left behind his wife and two young children, besides his parents. Pramanik had joined the Army in 2003. tns
