Giving another clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a complaint against him by Opposition parties, the Election Commission today said it has disposed of the matter relating to alleged misuse of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in collecting information in advance about places where the PM was set to campaign.

A senior official said as per an EC order of October 2014, the PM has been given relaxation in this regard and the complaint now stands disposed of.

The Congress had moved the EC against alleged misuse of the PMO to collect information in advance about places where Modi is set to campaign.

The EC had sought reply from the NITI Aayog, which denied Opposition parties’ allegations that it helped the PMO in getting details of places where he was to hold rallies.

The Congress had said the PMO was misusing the NITI Aayog and asking it to write letters to the district administration of places the Prime Minister was scheduled to campaign.
