Tamil Nadu party AIADMK may have supported the NDA in the no-confidence motion against the government but the party on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the quantum of the paddy MSP announced recently.
While the NDA side highlighted the recent increase as one of the star points of the government achievements during the debate in the Lok Sabha on Friday, AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP Vijila Satyanathan said it was not sufficient to make up for the cost incurred by farmers for their labour of four months.
Demanding that the government follow the MS Swaminathan committee recommended C2 plus 50 formula, she claimed that in Tamil Nadu a farmer incurred a cost of Rs 20,000 per acre.
She was the only one who could raise an issue during Zero Hour as the House was soon adjourned amid ruckus by Opposition members.
Congress’s Anand Sharma raised the issue of misuse of CBI and other central agencies by the government.
Calling it an abuse of their mandate, he termed it a serious issue.
