Hyderabad, November 21

After resigning from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), MP K Vishweshwar Reddy on Wednesday met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, paving his way to join the Congress.

Sources in Hyderabad said Reddy met Gandhi at the latter’s residence and he could join the Congress in the presence of the Congress president and Sonia Gandhi at the November 23 public rally at Medchal near Hyderabad.

In his facebook post, Rahul said: “I had a very warm and cordial meeting with Member of the Lok Sabha from Telangana Shri K Vishweshwar Reddy, who resigned from the TRS yesterday. I look forward to continuing our dialogue in the future and to working together for the betterment of Telangana”. He also posted a picture of Reddy and him together.

According to Congress incharge of Telangana RC Khuntia, Reddy expressed has expressed his desire to join the Congress. In a letter to caretaker Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, Reddy had written on how he had been disappointed at the working of TRS that failed to deliver what it had promised. The letter was later leaked to the media.

Meanwhile, sources in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is part of Maha Kutami (grand alliance) or also known as ‘Praja Kutami’ (people’s alliance), is unlikely to share the dais with Rahul and Sonia on November 23, but did not rule out the possibility of a joint rally sometime later in November.

Naidu, he said, would campaign with Congress president Rahul Gandhi at some places during the latter’s visit to the state on November 28 and 29 and December 3, Khuntia said.
