New Delhi, April 20

Wing Commander Abhinadan Varthaman, who ejected in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following an air duel with Pakistan Air Force on February 27, has been moved out of his present place of posting at the Srinagar air base to another key base in the western sector.

There were concerns over his personal security, following which a decision was made to relocate him to another important fighter base.

Sources said he has also been recommended for a gallantry award. If the Wing Commander is cleared for flying, he would be able to continue his flying duties. A final medical board will take a call. After his first examination, he was  sent on leave. — TNS
