New Delhi, September 21

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest all 119 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana.

With the “Delhi governance card”, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party hopes to counter the outgoing Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, alleging it has taken the people of the state for a ride.

It called the likely coalition of the Congress with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), once its rival, as an “opportunistic alliance”.

The same alliance is expected to see many smaller parties, including the CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi, whose members were associated with the separate statehood movement, among others coming together for the upcoming elections.

AAP’s Telangana in-charge Somnath Bharti claimed that the party was approached by the Bahujana Left Front (BLF) but it turned down

the alliance proposal choosing to test its strength alone in the elections.

“The KCR government forced the elections six months before the scheduled date. It has betrayed people, failed to keep the promises it made and a separate state still remains a dream,” Bharti said.

Referring to the Delhi model and the AAP government’s work, he said: “A survey and several interactions with the locals reveal that people here want a government like the one in Delhi where the ruling AAP’s strides in health, education and recently launched doorstep delivery of public services have set an example.”
