Lucknow, August 23

With the arrest of seven persons, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday claimed to have unearthed an inter-state gang responsible for hacking the Sub-Inspectors’ online recruitment examination after which the exam was cancelled.

IG STF Amitabh Yash said with the connivance of the IT head and invigilator of the firm conducting the exam, Remote Access Tool was used to write the exam on behalf of candidates by the gang well-versed in cyber crime.

He admitted that the company had not adhered to the Information Security Policy due to which the physical, administrative and technical counter-measures required to conduct online exam had been overlooked.

Gang leader Saurabh Jhakhar, an accused in a railway recruitment scam, is at present jailed in Palwal on charges of murder. The present scam was executed by his brother Gaurav Anand, who was arrested today. — TNS
