60 kids fall sick after consuming contaminated food in Jaipur

JAIPUR: In a suspected case of food poisoning, 60 children of labourers living in Kanota area have fallen ill and 23 among them have been hospitalised.

In a suspected case of food poisoning, 60 children of labourers living in Kanota area have fallen ill and 23 among them have been hospitalised.

"Following information that children have fallen sick, a medical team was sent to the spot and 60 children were examined yesterday. 16 children with complaint of vomiting and abdomen pain were admitted to J K Lone hospital here," Health Minister of Rajasthan, Rajendra Rathore, said.

"Twenty were given primary treatment. Seven are hospitalised in Bassi and remaining 17 are being treated by the medical team in Kanota," the minister said.

The Health Minister visited the JK Lone hospital and gave necessary directions for their treatment.

"The children are being provided free treatment in the hospitals. Samples of food and water have been collected and sent to laboratory for tests," he said.

The victims were the children of labourers working at a brick kiln. — PTI
