Key suspect in Burdwan blast case and alleged motivational trainer of terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Sahanur Alam was on Saturday sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Guwahati. A local court in Kolkata remanded two persons to NIA custody for three days and five others to jail custody for 14 days in connection with the blast. PTI

SpiceJet resumes operations

The operations of the budget carrier SpiceJet, which were hit severely last week due to the non-payment of dues to the oil companies and regulatory issues, returned to normal on Saturday with the airline operating 124 flights till this afternoon. “SpiceJet as of 3.15 PM operated 124 flights with an on-time performance of 90 pc,” airline's chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor tweeted. Sonia improving, still in hospital

Congress President Sonia Gandhi is showing signs of improvement, two days after she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital with lower respiratory tract infection and some breathing difficulty. “Mrs Gandhi is feeling better and her condition is improving. Bomb found near Army post

A three-kg IED planted by militants was found near an Assam Rifles post at the border town of Moreh in Manipur's Chandel district, police said here on Saturday. The bomb was detected by a patrol party of 9th Assam Rifles battalion from a place at the international line in Moreh on Thursday and later defused, the police said. PTI

Minor gangraped; one held

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three youths, including son of a sarpanch of her village, in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. “The incident occurred near Mauhadih village on December 17 when the Class VIII student was heading towards her school, situated in nearby Gaud village on a bicycle," ASP Vijay Agrawal.
