3 arrested at Delhi airport for trying to smuggle gold

NEW DELHI: Three men have been arrested by the Customs at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 30 lakh into the country.

Three men have been arrested by the Customs at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 30 lakh into the country.

The accused were intercepted after their arrival from Muscat on Friday.

A personal search and an inspection of their baggage resulted in recovery of seven gold bars weighing 1.01 kg, a statement issued on Tuesday by the customs department said.

The market value of the seized gold is estimated to be Rs 30.35 lakh, it said. PTI
