15 of family die in Bhopal mishap

BHOPAL: Fifteen members of a family were killed and six others seriously injured when a tractor trolley, ferrying sand mined illegally, rammed into a jeep in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

Fifteen members of a family were killed and six others seriously injured when a tractor trolley, ferrying sand mined illegally, rammed into a jeep in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. 

The family of Jasram Mahor, a resident of Utilla locality in Gwalior district, was on its way to attend the last rites of a relative at Ghurghan village in Morena district.

The police said the accident took place at 5.30 am at the Ganj Rampur locality, nearly 4 km from Morena district headquarters.

Locals and officials had a tough time in pulling the bodies out from the mangled remains of the jeep. The six injured were admitted to three different hospitals in Morena.

The tractor trolley was carrying sand allegedly mined illegally from the National Chambal Sanctuary. Morena Superintendent of Police said Amit Sanghi, the driver of the tractor trolley, fled the spot after the accident. A case has been registered and a search launched to arrest the tractor-trailer driver.
