‘Robot Restaurant’ comes to Bengaluru

BENGALURU: ‘Robot Restaurants’ has announced the launch of the city’s “first” restaurant where food service is done by robots. The restaurant claimed that its Bengaluru launch was after its “resounding success” in Chennai and Coimbatore.

The restaurant claimed that its Bengaluru launch was after its “resounding success” in Chennai and Coimbatore. “The restaurant will be located on Indira Nagar's high street 100 Feet Road and will be able to accommodate 50 diners. The menu will largely comprise Indo-Asian cuisine,” it said. The restaurant will have a team of 6 robots (one usher and five bearers), it said. PTI

Five fish species discovered in Arunachal 

Itanagar: Researchers of Rajiv Gandhi University here recently discovered five new fish species in various districts of the state. The scientific names of the newly-discovered fish species are Mystus prabini, found in Sinkin and Dibang rivers in lower Dibang Valley district, and Exostoma kottelati, found in Ranga river in lower Subansiri district, a release by the university said. The team was led by Prof DN Das of the fisheries and aquatic ecology research wing of the zoology department of the university. PTI

World-class zoo on anvil in Gujarat

Vadodara: A world-class zoo will come up near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Narmada district before the end of October next year, said a senior official on Sunday. Rajiv Gupta, additional chief secretary and managing director of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited, said the zoo, as well as river rafting facilities, were part of a plan to make Kevadiya, where the statue is situated, a major tourist attraction. “Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated a river rafting sport facility at Khalvani near the Statue of Unity on Saturday,” Gupta said. Aadhaar staffer in soup over fingerprint fraud

Nashik: The police have registered a case against an employee of an Aadhaar enrolment centre at Dindori in the district for allegedly using his own fingerprint for the applicants. The offence was registered on Saturday against Kailas Gaikwad, a resident of Madakijamb village in the district. He worked as an operator at the Aadhaar registration centre located on the premises of Dindori tehsil office, inspector Anilkumar Borse of Dindori police station said. Gaikwad had created a rubber stamp of his own fingerprint and he was using it in place of the fingerprints of the Aadhaar applicants. PTI

A new book “The Journey of a Wise Man: LM Singhvi”, a pictorial biography of the statesman by his son, Abhishek Singhvi, brings to light many interesting nuggets. Diana and her husband Prince Charles had an abiding friendship with LM Singhvi, India’s longest-serving high commissioner to the UK in the early 90s. PTI

Ratul Puri, parents booked in Rs 354-cr bank fraud case

New Delhi: The CBI has booked Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath’s nephew Ratul Puri, who formerly served as executive director of Moser Baer, and others in connection with a Rs 354-crore bank fraud case, officials said. Besides Ratul, his father and managing director Deepak Puri, and mother and director Nita Puri (Kamal Nath’s sister) have been booked. PTI
