A 39-year-old woman allegedly jumped to death from the terrace of her residence at south Delhi’s Hauz Khas on Friday, the police said on Saturday. The police said her parents have alleged dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws.

DCP (South) Romil Baaniya said deceased Anissia Batra was an airhostess with a German airline. The incident took place around 4.30 pm. “She had sent a message to her husband Mayank, informing him that she was going to take the step,” DCP Baaniya said.

Mayank was at home at the time of the incident. He said he reached the terrace immediately, but could not find her. “She might have jumped after sending the text. She had fallen on the ground by the time her husband reached,” the DCP said.

In his complaint, Anissia’s father Major Ropinder Batra (retd), resident of Sector 36-A in Chandigarh, said, “Mayank, his mother Sushma Singhvi and father Rajender Singhvi are responsible for the death.” A dowry death case had been lodged and a probe was on, the police said.
