...BJP plans to turn it to its electoral advantage

Intending to turn the no-trust vote to its advantage in the run-up to the 2019 General Election, the top brass of the ruling BJP on Thursday went into a huddle to decide on five prospective leaders who could speak well on issues such as agrarian crisis, financial frauds and economy, atrocities against Dalits and women, and unemployment.

A senior BJP leader said the party had worked out a plan to exploit the vantage points as the members belonging to the ruling benches would be speaking for nearly half the time during the debate. The leaders also reportedly discussed broader issues to logical conclusions, besides pinning hope on fence sitters not walking out to expose the strength of the Opposition unity.

Assessing broader issues, the BJP identified atrocities against Dalits, agrarian/rural distress, banking frauds and economy, unemployment and youth and women. “The aim is to ensure that the Modi government wins the perception battle ahead of the key state Assembly elections slated later this year and also help us in the run-up to the General Election early next year,” said another BJP leader.

The BJP is likely to field ex-Union Minister Hukum Dev Narayan Yadav to counter issue of agrarian/ rural distress, Anurag Thakur (youth, unemployment), Nishikant Dubey (banking/economy), Meenakshi Lekhi (women), Udit Raj (Dalits).
