Duniya udeek di hai, ki Bhagat Singh aavey.... And here he comes back on reel in this week’s release, Bhagat Singh Di Udeek.

While the struggles of this Bhagat Singh are somewhere similar to the real hero, the reel one definitely needs to work on himself and so does his reel team-mates.

While the title of the movie is pretty catchy, the ingredients do not hold fast to cast a gripping spell. Director Shivamm Sharma has raised issues through a story which are pretty much relevant, and which the entire Punjab is aware of. Nevertheless, the story fails to create an emotional bond and lacks that punch. Also, a wee bit reminds us of Alia Bhatt’s drug issue in Udta Punjab but this is about it. Though the entire time one awaits the entry of Bhagat Singh, and when he finally does show up on seen, it isn’t pretty impressive. Even the heavy-duty dialogues like pind saaf, ilaaka saaf, zila saaf, desh saaf fail to lend strength any character in the film.

The movie will not throw in any surprises, because you know pretty well what lies in store! The film doesn’t have one strong character, since everyone has a strong role to portray, but two artistes, Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu and Malkeet Rauni, deserve a special mention. Yet, another artiste Babbar Gill, who plays the bad man, also deserves a mention, though there was a lot more scope of experimentation in his character.

As for the two seasoned actors, BN Sharma and Sardar Sohi, the director should create effective characters and he should know how to get them to deliver their best. Also, the two actors should be able to wisely choose their roles.

Coming to the lead actor, Arsh Chawla definitely has a long way to go. And there will be more films for the pretty girls to showcase her talent pretty soon. And Bhagat Singh, we are definitely waiting for a brave soul who can fight injustice—on screen or off screen.
