Youth killed after being hit by vehicle

LUDHIANA: A 24-year-old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle near Jalandhar Bypass last evening.

A 24-year-old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle near Jalandhar Bypass last evening. The deceased has been identified as Davinder Singh (24), a resident of Gurnam Nagar on Jassian Road in Ludhiana. The police have registered a case of negligent driving against an unknown person.

According to information, Davinder worked at a factory on GT Road. The accident took place past evening while Davinder was returning home on his motorcycle. According to sources, as soon as Davinder reached near Jalandhar Bypass, the motorcycle he was riding on was hit by a vehicle from behind.

Passersby informed the police following which a police team reached the spot and took the victim to the hospital. The doctors declared him brought in dead.

The police handed over the body to the victim’s family after post-mortem at Civil Hospital. The investigating officer, SI Gurwinder Singh, said the police had registered a case under Section 304 A and 427 of the IPC against an unidentified driver after recording the statement of the victim’s brother, Gurvinder Singh. Efforts are on to trace the vehicle involved in the accident, said the SI.
