Mandi Ahmedgarh, February 21

A young farmer of Saraud  village, under the Ahmedgarh Sadar police station, died under mysterious circumstances at his village near here today. The deceased has been identified as Gurmukh Singh (35), who was living with his family at his in-laws’ house at Moga at present.

The Sadar police handed over the body to his family after conducting proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.

Gurmukh, along with his wife and two sons, had been living at his in-laws’ place for a long time. He had returned home only yesterday.

Though the exact reason behind his death is yet to be probed, circumstantial evidence suggests he had allegedly committed suicide as his body was found hanging from a wooden ladder.

The deceased had reportedly fallen in bad company after which his in-laws took him and his family along to Moga. He was also given de-addiction treatment there.
