Work on Malak road commences

The construction of Kacha Malak road at Jagraon has finally commenced. District Congress Committee (rural) president Karanjit Singh Galib and former minister Malkiat Singh Dakha inaugurated the work.

“This road is in poor condition. We urged the local administration numerous times in the last couple of years to repair the road. Commuting on this road is very difficult and risky,” said Gurdeep Singh, a retired teacher.

Galib said the Congress has been committed for an overall development. “The Congress government has carried out several development works in Jagraon in the last two years. Roads which were neglected from the long time have been recarpeted,” he said.

Dakha said construction work on 800 meter stretch of this road would be carried out by the Punjab Mandi Board and an amount of Rs 16 lakh would be spent on the construction.

He also instructed the Punjab Mandi Board to make sure that best quality material should be used in the constructing the road.
