Woman tries to slash wrist at police station

LUDHIANA: A 35-year old woman allegedly attempted to cut her wrist by ‘using’ a piece of stone at washroom of Division Number 2 police station on Wednesday night.

A 35-year old woman allegedly attempted to cut her wrist by ‘using’ a piece of stone at washroom of Division Number 2 police station on Wednesday night. The woman was taken to Civil Hospital for required treatment but the police claimed that it was a minor cut.

According to information, the woman was arrested for allegedly extorting money from a man. The woman alleged that she was being implicated in a false case. The police have denied the allegations.

A resident of Arjun Nagar, Mohammad Iliyas had complained to police that the woman had indicated her to stop his car to get lift on Jalandhar Bypass-Sherpur road on November 30. When woman sit inside his car, she started threatning him to give cash and other valuables otherwise she will raise alarm that the man is sexually harassing him, he alleged.

Iliyas further alleged that woman had taken Rs 40,000 from him. Following his complaint, a case under section 386 of IPC was registered against the woman at police station Division Number 2. According to sources, woman is a dancer with an orchestra. She denied allegations of blackmailing.

Sub-inspector Kuldip Kaur said the woman had received a minor injury and she was given first aid. She said that the woman had tried to cut her wrist vein. The police said that nobody harassed the woman.
