As the sample of the deceased Inderjit Kaur has been rejected by the PGI, the reason of her death could not be confirmed. Doctors affirm that bacterial pneumonia too might have been one of the reasons behind her death.

The father-in-law of the deceased Rajinder Singh Khalsa informed the correspondent that his daughter-in-law had severe pneumonia for quite a few days. “She was being treated for this. It was on the January 16 that her condition worsened and we took her to Baldeep Hospital in Ludhiana. There the doctors took her sample the report of which was awaited. On the basis of her condition, they were suspicious whether she had pneumonia or swine flu.”

“When we visited Deep Hospital, they told us that her sample was rejected and it could not be confirmed whether she had swine flu or not. They also examined the whole family and did not find any such symptoms in any of us. We condemn the manner in which the patient was treated in a secluded manner without confirming whether she had any such ailment or not,” he added.

Dr Manvi Narang of Deep Hospital said, “We took the sample which was sent via civil surgeon to the PGI where it was rejected. Since the patient died, we could not take the sample again. Hence, the reason of her death remained unconfirmed.
