Woman hangs herself to death

A 40-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Subash Nagar on Tuesday evening.

A 40-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Subash Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kaur. She was working as security guard in a private school in Ludhiana. She is survived by her husband and three children.

Investigating Officer Vijay Kumar said the woman was working as a security guard at Greenland School. “Her duty starts at 6 am. Then from 10 am to 11 am, she used to have a breakfast break. During the breakfast break today, she went home and committed suicide. Matter came to light when someone noticed the hanging body,” he said.

The police said no suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Members of the deceased’s family told the police that the deceased was not in depression or worried and they could not comprehend why she ended her life.

Suspecting no foul play, inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC has been initiated.
