The Doraha police claimed to have solved a murder case and arrested three persons, including a woman, in this regard.

The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Singh of Bilaspur village. Kuldeep Singh’s wife, her alleged paramour and one another person have been arrested.

Khanna SSP NS Mahal told the media that Sukhwinder Kaur, sister of the deceased, had reported that her brother had been missing since May 7.

She said her brother was a daily-wage worker and was married to Kamaljit Kaur of Lehal village in 2007.

She alleged that about six months ago, Kamaljit Kaur had developed illicit relations with Harpreet Singh of Bilaspur village. She said Kamaljit Kaur and Harpreet Singh, along with one Roshan Singh, hatched a conspiracy against Kuldeep Singh.

Harpreet Singh took Kuldeep Singh along on his scooter on the pretext of finding him a job in Delhi. She said on May 8, Harpreet Singh returned, but Kuldeep Singh did not.

Doraha SHO Ashwani Kumar had arrested Kamaljit Kaur and and Harpreet Singh and seized the scooter and two mobile phones from them.

The SSP said Harpreet Singh had admitted that he, along with Roshan Singh, took Kuldeep to Doraha where they had liquor with him. Later, the two had ferried Kuldeep Singh to Mandi Gobindgarh where they strangled Kuldeep Singh with a wire and threw his body into Sirhand canal.

The Pasiana police had recovered the body from the canal near Patiala, but it was disposed of because it was not identified. The SSP said after Sukhwinder Kaur’s complaint, a missing report was flashed after which pictures of the recovered body were sent to them. Following which, it was found that Kuldeep was murdered and thrown into the canal.

The SSP said a case of murder was registered against the accused. They would be presented in a court tomorrow. The deceased is survived by two minor sons.
