A squall had hit the city, around a fortnight ago, due to which the electricity was snapped for almost 6-8 hours in many areas as trees had fallen on roads, breaking the electricity wires. It has been over 15-20 days now that one such tree is still lying near the BSNL Office, Bharat Nagar Chowk, but the authorities have apparently turned a blind eye to it. The tree is a hindrance to the traffic, as it is lying on the connecting Bharat Nagar Chowk-Mall Road. For four-wheelers, it is not much problem, but for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders, the tree can cause accidents when the visibility is low during late evenings and nights. Perhaps for lifting it, authorities need representation from city residents?

Vacations get busier

Summer vacations are not the time to relax and unwind, at least for children. Their overzealous parents, many of whom seek to accomplish their own unfulfilled ambitions vicariously through their children, have a long to-do list. The special tuitions, camps, extra classes, language lessons, science lessons – all these activities define the day for the child. The bottom line is that the vacations transform into busy days for the children who remain overworked and harried and stressed for the most part of the summer vacations.
