The Ludhiana Vigilance Department has launched a movement to educate the masses about the menace of corruption in government and the public-dealing departments.

The movement has been launched in compliance with the orders of BK Uppal, Director, State Vigilance Bureau, Chandigarh.

Rupinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), Ludhiana, supervised the movement launched by policemen, led by DSP Jaswinder Singh.

Convener of the project, Inspector Kuljinder Singh Grewal, said the department had launched a coordinated movement to persuade the region residents against adopting “shortcuts” to their get their official work done by greasing the palms of the rank and file of various government offices.

Addressing students and teachers during a function at Gujjranwala Khalsa College, DSP Jaswinder Singh, Inspector Kuljinder Singh Grewal, Principal Hardit Singh Gosal and Vice-principal Avinash Kaur said the menace of corruption could not be curbed without the cooperation of the public.

Vigilance officials said special teams of the police would be taking action in the graft cases after receiving a complaint.

Residents were appealed to avail themselves of the toll-free facility on 1800-1800-1000, besides uploading complaints on official email ID of the department sspvbldh@yahoo.com .
