Ludhiana, June 26

After the attack on a project manager working at Ladhowal bypass, the video of the incident has gone viral. Two men can be seen seen thrashing Satyawan Chaudhary, project manager, in the video with sticks while Chaudhary pleaded to the accused with folded hands to spare him.

Chaudhary was attacked on the evening of June 18 when he, along with his driver, was returning home. The attackers stopped his car, dragged him out and started beating him mercilessly. While abusing Chaudhary, they had reportedly broken his arms.

Chaudhary was later admitted to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). He had alleged that Bhinder was demanding Rs 10 lakh from him for working in the area. Under the Ladhowal bypass project, the work for construction of road is under way. Sources said the work had been stalled earlier as well due to interference of some extortionists.

Following the complaint, the police had booked four persons in the case, including the key accused Bhinder of Birmi village. A case under Sections 307, 323, 325, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at PAU police station.

Inspector Bhagwant Kumar, Station House Officer at PAU police station, said Bhinder was yet to be arrested. However, one of accused, identified as Deepu, was arrested recently, he added.
