Ludhiana, October 18

Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha on Thursday carried out a protest against the government for slashing the salaries of SSA RMSA Adarsh and Model schools. They made a 19-head ‘Ravana’ effigy and burnt it.

They said the effigy symbolised the education secretary, cabinet ministers and the chief minister. After gathering at Chattar Singh Park, they carried out the protest march in front of it at the flyover leading to the ISBT and then set the effigy on fire.

Amandeep Singh, president, SSA RMSA Union, said today is a black day as the contrary to the mythology, the evil has triumphed over the good and it is not a good sign for the people of the state, because despite the hard work and long wait of ten years, instead of commending the teachers for it, they were given 3/4 cut in the salaries that they already deserved from day one.

Earlier during the day, the Association for Democratic Rights also carried out the protests at the District Administrative Complex against the cut in salaries of teachers. They said it was total injustice with teachers and employees of the government this anti-people stance of any government will never be tolerated by the people of the state.
