Four days after a Mercedes car driver tried to run over a traffic policeman at Hero Bakery Chowk here, the Division No. 5 police have served a notice on the driver after verifying his identity. The driver has been identified as a 17.5-year-old boy of Rishi Nagar. His father owns an electronics showroom.

Station House Officer Jatinder Kumar said a notice had been served on the driver for joining investigation into the case. “Now, the driver has to appear before the police in the stipulated time and further proceedings, including the likely arrest, will be initiated accordingly,” he added.

The incident occurred on July 11 evening when the Mercedes car driver attempted to run over a traffic policeman who stopped him for jumping a red light.
