Two robbers arrested with stolen motorcycles

The police have arrested two alleged robbers and seized motorcycles used by them for committing robberies.

The accused have been identified as Yakub Mohamad, alias Jagroop, of Nathuwala village near Raikot, and Tejinder Singh, alias Mithun, of Rauli village in Moga district.

The accused were arrested during a routine checking by a police team from the Division Number 6 police station near Sherpur Chowk here on Monday. The police have recovered two stolen motorcycles from the accused. The motorcycles were allegedly used by the accused in robbery incidents. The police have also recovered some sharp weapons.

Division Number 6 SHO Jaswinder Singh said a police party was carrying out routine checking in the Sherpur Chowk area when it apprehended two youths riding a motorcycle. “They failed to produce any documents and admitted that they had stolen the motorcycle, following which, they were arrested,” said Jaswinder Singh.

The accused also told the police about another stolen motorcycle which was the recovered. The police have registered a case against both accused at the Division Number 6 police station under various sections of the IPC.

Later, the accused were produced before a local court which remanded them in two-day police custody.

According to the police, the accused confessed to have stolen the motorcycles and the using them in two robberies and snatching incidents. The accused had already been facing cases registered at various police stations of the city.
