Two robbers arrested

LUDHIANA: The police today claimed to have arrested two robbers and recovered one stolen motorcycle, nine mobile phones, one LPG cylinder, one LCD set and Rs 5,000 from them.

The police today claimed to have arrested two robbers and recovered one stolen motorcycle, nine mobile phones, one LPG cylinder, one LCD set and Rs 5,000 from them. They have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, alias Billi, of Bara village in Muzafarpur district of Bihar; and Naresh Kumar of Nakodar Chowk, Jalandhar. They were wanted in at least seven incidents of loot and theft reported in Ludhiana.  Rajesh was arrested by the Division Number 4 police at a check post set up near Seeta Mata Mandir, Daresi Chowk, yesterday while his accomplice, Naresh, was arrested from Jalandhar today. 

The accused targeted women and migrant people. “Rajesh had stolen the motorcycle from railway station some time back. He also snatched mobile phones and committed several thefts in the city. He has confessed to his involvement in more than 20 incidents of snatching and theft. He handed over the stolen phones to Naresh who would sell them in Jalandhar,” said the ADCP. 

Both accused were produced before a local court which remanded them in two-day police custody. — TNS
