Ludhiana: The police have arrested two persons and recovered three looted mobile phones from them. The accused have been identified as Aman and Ravi, both residents of Manohar Nagar area of Ludhiana. The police have registered a case against them under various sections and further investigation was on. The police have also confiscated a scooter allegedly used by the accused in snatching incidents. SI Gurmit Singh said the accused snatched a mobile phone from one Keshav Kumar of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar in Atam Park area of Ludhiana a few days ago. “The accused have confessed to their involvement in three snatching incidents that took place in different areas of Ludhiana. We have recovered three looted mobile phones from them. A two-wheeler used in snatching incidents has also been seized,” he said.

Purse snatched

Ludhiana: An unidentified person allegedly looted a purse from a woman in Haibowal area of Ludhiana last night. The incident took place around 8 pm near Bhuri Wala Gurdwara, Haibowal, when the women had come to market along with another woman. A case was registered against unidentified person in this regard and investigation was on. Victim Meenu Arora of Haibowal area of Ludhiana said she had gone to the market with her friend. “When we reached near Gurduwara Sahib, I stopped my Activa to visit a shop. As soon as I stopped my vehicle, an unidentified person came from behind and snatched my purse. I raised an alarm, but the accused fled from the scene,” she said. According to the victim, the purse contained a few thousand rupees, gold bangles of her daughter, a mobile phone and some other important documents. Investigating Officer Constable Prem Chand said the police are scanning the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas to get a clue. TNS
