Two held with 10-kg opium

The Ludhiana Rural police have arrested two persons with 10-kg opium from near Dadhahoor canal bridge.

The accused have been identified as Sukhjinder Singh from Bank Colony, Raikot, and currently residing in Darjeeling, West Bengal, and Gurpreet Singh, alias Peeta, also residing in Darjeeling.

A team of the Raikot police, including Raikot Sadar SHO Simarjit Singh, intercepted a Brezza car coming from the Kutba side near the bridge. During checking, the police found a polythene bag containing 10-kg opium from the boot space of the car. The police also found Rs 18.68 lakh from the dashboard of the car.

Raikot DSP Gurmeet Singh reached the spot and a case was registered against the accused under the NDPS Act.
