Telephonic arguments between two Congress leaders turned bloody when two groups clashed at GTB Market here last night.

Three persons, including Congress leader Ladi Mann, former president of Bar Association of Khanna Manish Khanna, were injured when their group allegedly clashed with the opposite group led by Municipal Council President Vikas Mehta.

Manish Khanna has been admitted to a private hospital here while Mann is under treatment at Satguru Partap Singh Hospital, Ludhiana.

The police today recorded the statement of Manish after the Bar Association observed a complete strike demanding action against Mehta and others. Mann’s statement could not be recorded as he was stated to be unfit.

President of Bar Association Baljinder Singh said they would observe a strike at the state level if action was not taken against those responsible for the attack on Manish.

According to information, after telephonic arguments between Mann and Mehta, both, along with their supporters, reached GTB Market. According to Baljinder Singh, Manish, who is known to Mann’s family, also reached the market and tried to stop the fight, but he was, too, beaten up by Mehta and his supporters.

Meanwhile, Mehta said he was attacked by a group led by Mann. However, in the ensuing fighting, three persons of the opposite group suffered injuries while he and his supporters escaped unhurt. He said he yesterday complained to the police about receiving a threat from Mann.

Khanna SSP Gursharandeep Singh Grewal said the police had recorded Manish’s statement and they would obtain the doctor’s opinion, and act as per law. He said the statement of Mann would also be recorded after he was declared fit by the doctors.

The SSP said they would investigate the case without political interference. He, however, maintained that they had also received a complaint from Mehta against Mann.
