Khanna, February 8

Two minor children of a labourer’s family died when they fell in a pit of muddy water in village near Machhiwara.

The deceased have been identified as Ruby (4) and Shiv Kumar (3), both children of Surinder Sharma, a migrant labourer.

As per information, the incident happened on February 4 but the matter came to notice on Friday.

On February 4, Surinder had gone for work while his wife Reena Devi was at home, busy doing work.

The children came out of their jhuggi and they fell in the water pit. Some other labourers living in the vicinity noticed them and informed Reena Devi.

They started fishing out the children but by the time they were taken out they were dead.

The family members cremated the children on that day in the evening. On Friday, the father and mother of the deceased children confirmed the incident.

Samrala SHO Harwinder Singh said they had no information about the incident as the police were not informed in this regard. — TNS
