Ludhiana, October 24

Thousand of passengers visit the Ludhiana railway station every day for travelling to various parts of the country, thereby ticket counters witness huge rush on a daily basis.

Passengers can be seen waiting in long queues to buy tickets, though the railway station has a number of ticket windows. Apparently, they fail to cater to the increasing number of commuters, who keep waiting for hours. In the wake of this, the railway authorities had installed automated ticket-vending machines at the railway station, but they are proving to be white elephant as most of these are non-functioning.

Currently, there are 11 automated ticket-vending machines at the railway station, but they fail to serve the purpose. According to the sources, the machines remain non-functional most of the time due to which, the passengers have to face a lot of problems.

Passengers have demanded from the railway authorities to repair the non-functioning automated ticket-vending machines.

Ludhiana Railway Station Director Abhinav Singla said technical flaws in automated ticket-vending machines would be rectified and they would be made operational at the earliest.
