Ludhiana, June 23
Three persons were killed in accidents in the city in the past 24 hours.
Harkishan Singh, a resident for Jagraon, said he was accompanying his 24-year-old cousin Krishan on a motorbike. When they reached near Botalwal village, a car coming from the Sidhwan Bet (wrong side) rammed the motorcycle. Krishan was severely injured. He was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The Jagraon Sadar police have registered a case against the driver of the car (PB-10 DZ- 1914).
In another accident which took place near Dugri, 67-year-old Vinay Kumar lost his life when a speeding three-wheeler hit his scooter. According to his son Nitin, his father was going to the Phase II market, Dugri, to get some grocery and he was also following him on his scooter. Near Manjeet Paint Store, a three-wheeler hit his father’s scooter from behind. Nitin took his father to Deep Hospital where he died. A case has been registered at the Dugri police station.
In yet another accident, an 80-year-old man lost his life while crossing a road near Ayali Chowk. The complainant, Pradeep Singh, a resident of Pamaal village, said he left Sher Singh, his maternal uncle, near Ayali Chowk. While Sher Singh was crossing the road, a speeding vehicle coming from the Mullanpur side ran him over. A severely injured Sher Singh was admitted to Civil Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
