Three-day baseball tournament begins today

LUDHIANA: The three-day Ludhiana District Baseball Tournament for men and women will be held from September 27 to 29 here at the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town.

The three-day Ludhiana District Baseball Tournament for men and women will be held from September 27 to 29 here at the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town.

According to press release issued by the Ludhiana District Baseball Association here today, as many as 12 teams in the men's section and 10 in the women's section have confirmed participation in this tournament.

On the basis of their performance in this tournament, the district teams will be finalised to take part in the Senior Punjab State Baseball Championship scheduled to be held on October 19 and 20. Matches in the women's category will be held here at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, in this district, while those in the men's section will be conducted at Shahi Sports College, Samrala, near here.

The teams which will be seen in action during the district tournament in the men's section include SCD Government College for Boys, Shahi Sports College, Samrala; BCM School, Focal Point; Ranjit Baseball Club, PPC Club, Guru Nanak International Public School, RS Model School; Government Senior Secondary School, Sherpur; Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad; Shahi Sports Club, Samrala; Alpine International School and Government Senior Secondary School, Gill village.

Teams in the women's section are Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village; Government High School, Sherpur; BCM School, Focal Point; Shahi Sports Club, Samrala; Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad; Gill Baseball Club, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Guru Nanak Public School, Janta Nagar; Shahi Sports Club, Samrala; and Khalsa Baseball Club.

Players have been advised to bring their birth certificates, the release read. — OC
