Three arrested with 2 kg of opium

KHANNA: The police claimed to have arrested three persons with 2-kg opium in two cases. Khanna SSP Navjot Singh Mahal told the media that in the first case, the Samrala police had laid a naka near Saloudi village.

The police claimed to have arrested three persons with 2-kg opium in two cases.

Khanna SSP Navjot Singh Mahal told the media that in the first case, the Samrala police had laid a naka near Saloudi village.

Two persons riding an Activa were stopped and 1-kg opium in a box was seized from them. The accused have been identified as Bhag Singh Walia of Swajpur near Patiala, currently residing at Kalalmajra village, and Mahinder of Jatwa in UP — currently residing at Nwagaon in Chandigarh.

The SSP said Mahinder had purchased the consignment from UP and gave it to Bhag Singh who was to sell it in the area. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused. The accused were presented in a local court which remanded them in one-day police custody.

In the second case, the Khanna police arrested a peddler near Jaspalon village and recovered 1-kg opium from him.

The accused has been identified as Ranjit Singh of Kaounke Kalan village. The SSP said the accused was in jail at Ludhiana some time ago where he met a driver who later introduced him to another driver in Bhopal (MP) from whom the accused had purchased the opium.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. The accused was presented in a local court which remanded him in one-day police custody.

Case I

Accused Mahinder had purchased the consignment from UP and gave it to another accused Bhag Singh who was supposed to sell it. 

Case II

Accused Ranjit Singh was in jail at Ludhiana some time ago. There he met a driver who introduced him to another driver in Bhopal (MP), from whom the accused had purchased the opium.
