Thieves decamp with 13-tola gold, cash

LUDHIANA: Thieves sprayed some sedatives on the sleeping members of a family and decamped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs from a house at Gurpreet Nagar on Monday night.

Thieves sprayed some sedatives on the sleeping members of a family and decamped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs from a house at Gurpreet Nagar on Monday night.

The entire theft was captured on a CCTV camera. The police have launched investigation to identify the thieves who took away 13 tola of gold and Rs 44,000 in cash from the house.

Owner of the house Kulwinder Singh said he owned a nut and bolts factory in Giaspura. Last night, he, along with his wife Manpreet Kaur, retired to their bedroom around 11 pm. His son, Navjot, was sleeping on the first floor. When they woke up in the morning, they felt some heaviness.

It was the fourth theft reported in the same area in the past two months. Though thieves have been captured on CCTV cameras, the police have failed to nab them.
