Players slugged it out in the ongoing events of Tandarust Punjab Mission being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the state government’s instructions to encourage the youngsters towards games. Sports activities were organised at different venues across the district.

According to information given by the Sports Department, wrestling bouts were held at the sub-centre at Sant Sardul Singh Memorial Wrestling Akhara, Malakpur, wherein boys U-17 competed in five weight categories.

In the below 57-kg weight group, Pavittar Singh came out triumphant while Harikrishan Singh and Uday Partap Singh secured second and third positions, respectively.

Luvpreet Singh emerged winner in the below 65-kg weight category whereas Suraj Partap Singh finished at the second place and Dharampreet Singh got the third position.

In the below 74-kg weight section, Jordan, Gurvinder Singh and Deepinder Singh secured first three spots while in the below 85-kg weight group, Hartaj Singh proved too good to obtain first position and Navjot Singh secured second place while Harsimranjot Singh had to content with third position.

Dharamveer Singh romped home victorious in the below 97-kg weight category while Subhash Kadam finished as runners-up and Harjot Singh secured the third place.
