Ludhiana: Students of DCM Presidency School brought laurels in a chess tournament conducted by the Ludhiana District Chess Association. Sujata Agnihotri of Class VII bagged the first position and Siya Agnihotri of Class VI secured the second position at the tournament. 

Seminar for teachers held  

A seminar on ‘Face yoga to control ageing signs and usage of organic skin products’ was held at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town. Resource person Preety Arora enlightened all about the benefits of face yoga and how it could help in delaying ageing signs. She also motivated everyone to use organic products on their face for the better health of their skin.

Prize distribution ceremony 

To felicitate the meritorious students of classes XII and X, a prize distribution ceremony was held at Sat Paul Mittal School. A scholarship of Rs 10, 000 was awarded to students who secured above 95 per cent marks and a prize money of Rs 5,000 to the students who secured between 90 per cent to 95 per cent marks. Similarly, a prize money of Rs 5, 000 was also awarded to the students securing 100 per cent marks in individual subjects.

Anti-drug awareness drive

BVM USN conducted an anti-tobacco and drugs-awareness campaign under 3 Girls Punjab Bn in the slum areas near the Polytechnic College. Around 30 NCC cadets of the school along with 20 NCC cadets of Khalsa School participated under the Commanding Officer JS Bali, ANO Geeta Mishra and ANO Amarjeet Kaur. Cadets talked to the people of slum areas and made them aware of deadly ill-effects of the drugs.

Enrolment camp

3 PbBn NCC (Army wing) organised an enrolment camp at Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School, Sherpur, for junior division cadets for the session 2018-19. The students were told that the NCC helps in all-round development and inculcate the qualities such as self-confidence, discipline, sportsmanship, self-defence, team spirit and physical fitness. They were also told that the NCC ‘C’ certificate holder has a lot of opportunities and bright career in the Army. 

‘Readathon’ organised

Mount Litera Zee School organised an activity ‘Readathon’. The students from classes I to VII participated and gained knowledge about different genres and books written by the international authors. The activity was organised to develop language skills and increase concentration levels. The book reviews were exchanged with partner schools located in Canada through Skype session.

Mango Day celebrated

Ryan International School, Dugri, celebrated Mango Day on the school premises to teach recognition of yellow colour. Students made mango jam and mango shake with the help of their teachers. Tiny tots were also told about the benefits of eating fruits.— TNS
