Stand against BJP’s agenda of defaming national heroes: Ashu

Food and Civil Supplies Minister of Punjab Bharat Bhushan Ashu gave a clarion call to the Punjabis to stand against the BJP’s nefarious agenda of defaming the national heroes of freedom struggle and targeting the historic institutions to erase the golden history of India. He also flayed the way of scrapping of Artcile 370 and 35-A and termed it unconstitutional.

He said Punjabis always stood against injustice and following the legacy of great freedom fighters like Karnail Singh Issru they all must raise voice against the malicious propaganda of the RSS and BJP, who were trying to undermine the contribution of freedom fighters, besides overpowering the constitutional institutions with an aim to change the history.

Addressing a gathering during the state-level function to mark the martyrdom day of great revolutionary Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru, who laid down his life during the liberation of Goa from Portuguese regime, here today at his native village, the minister said, “We Punjabis inherited the spirit of sacrifice from the great Sikh Gurus, especially Guru Arjan Dev and Guru Teg Bahadur, who made supreme sacrifices against the tyranny of the Mughals.”

He said the Punjab government had decided to dedicate the year 2020 to development by providing enough financial aids to the local bodies and villages.

The minister also honoured Charanjit Kaur, wife of Karnail Singh Issru, and his sister Karnail Kaur, who was specially invited by the government. Karnail Kaur also sung a poem on her brother’s contribution to the freedom of Goa.

Minister announced a special grant of Rs 10 lakh for the development of Issru village.

Member of Parliament from Fatehgarh Sahib Dr Amar Singh also annouced a grant of 10 lakh for the village sports club. Earlier, Mahinderpal Jassal, secretary, SAD, joined the Congress. — OC
