Soumiya Ravi of MBBS (batch-2015 ) of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) represented Chandigarh (UT) in the 22nd Senior National Football Championship held at Phagwara recently.

She had also played in the last edition of the championship held in Gurugram (Gurgaon).

Before her admission to the college, Soumiya had represented India in the qualifier for the Asian Cup in Sri Lanka and was a member of the national soccer team (U-16).

Soumiya’s desires to practice medicine, but her passion for sports never faded away.

Soumiya owes her success in sports and studies to her parents, Capt V Ravi and Dr Premlatha, and her teachers.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri and Dean Dr Rajoo Chhina, (Academic) Dayanand Medical College and Hospital , appreciated her for being a member of the national football squad. “More medicos will emulate Soumiya and take active part in sports which inculcates the habit of team work and performing well under tense situations,” said Puri. —OC
