SMO caught taking bribe

MANDI AHMEDGARH: The Patiala Vigilance Bureau claimed to have caught red-handed the Senior Medical Officer of the local Civil Hospital for allegedly taking a bribe from a radiographer posted at a health centre.

The Patiala Vigilance Bureau claimed to have caught red-handed the Senior Medical Officer of the local Civil Hospital for allegedly taking a bribe from a radiographer posted at a health centre.

The SMO, Dr Narinder Gupta had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from the radiographer, Jaswinder Singh, posted at the local community health centre for withdrawing a notice of termination of services served on him.

Vigilance sleuths, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Patiala, Hans Raj, nabbed the SMO with the ‘trap money’ worth Rs 10,000 today. An equal amount was paid to the SMO by the complainant in advance.

An FIR has been registered by the vigilance police of Patiala under Sections 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

The SMO had allegedly demanded a huge amount as bribe.
