Smart classes in government schools soon, says Bittu

Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu informed that smart classes would be developed in all 137 government schools falling in Ludhiana.

He said funds amounting to Rs 6.28 crore for this purpose have already been allotted to the Education Department. He said this while attending a function organised to distribute more than 400 bicycles among girl students under the ‘Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme’ at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Punjab Agricultural University, here on Monday.

Bittu said a grant of Rs 10 lakh would be allocated to each school for developing smart classes. He said the work is all set to start and a target to complete it by March has been fixed. He said by the next academic session, students of all 137 government schools of Ludhiana would avail of benefits of smart classes.

He further informed that under the Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme of the Punjab Government, 12,704 bicycles would be distributed among girl students in the district. He said a large number of bicycles have already been distributed, while the remaining would be distributed in coming days.

Addressing the students, Ravneet Singh Bittu said Capt Amarinder Singh-led government is committed to uplift the standard of education in the state.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Councillor Mamta Ashu, Senior Congress leader Kamaljit Singh Karwal, School Principal Sanjeev Thapar, Ramniq Kaur, besides several others.
