The local branch of Shree Ram Sharnam felicitated outstanding performers of the 14th vocational course, which was conducted to commemorate memory of the organisation founder, Rajinder Karir.
Diplomas and certificates were also distributed among trainees during the function held at the Dehliz road here. Manju, Riya and Rajjie were declared best three performers during the training.
Rakha Ram Verma and Pardeep Sethi, patron and secretary of the local Shree Ram Sharnam unit, respectively, said the programme was launched to commemorate the contributions of the organisation founder, Rajinder Karir.
“Women are trained and offered help to start their own vocational ventures. Students are provided books and stationery under the programme,” they added.
Appreciating the role of office-bearers and activists of other social organisations of the town in identification of beneficiaries, Verma and Sethi said over 500 poor students had benefited from the programme. As many as 300 women had become self-reliant after undergoing training at the sewing training centres being run by Shree Ram Sharnam, they added.
